Exporting default has changed from MIDI to m4A Help

After running a mp3 file through the transport and transposing it, I exported and it defaulted to m4A as export choice. Now when I go back to MIDI files, the export default is now M4A. I need it to revert to midi. Can anyone please help. I can't find where to select export default.
