Library - Change a pass to files location

Paul
This post was updated on .
Currently all my mp3/midi files for Qmidi pro are locating in the folder, let’s call it MINUS, on the Desktop.
I would like to move the whole folder to another location on another partition of the same Mac.
The question is:
What should I do that Qmidi will find all my mp3/midi files in new location?

At your own risk, follow carefully these steps:

HD1/(originalpath)/MINUS

1 - Quit QMidi.
2 - Launch QMidi while holding down the option Key; this will refresh all library aliases.
3 - Quit QMidi.
4 - Copy the whole MINUS folder from HD1 to HD2.
5 - Delete the original folder in HD1. DELETE, DO NOT MOVE OR RENAME!
6 - Make a symbolic link (*) of the copied folder in HD2.
7 - Place the symbolic link in the same location of the original folder in HD1.
8 - Rename the link as the original folder.

Now you have:
HD1/(originalpath)/MINUS (symbolic link to HD2/(newpath)/MINUS)
HD2/(newpath)/MINUS

9 - Launch QMidi while holding down the option Key; this will refresh all library aliases.
10 - Delete the symbolic link.
11 - You're done!

(*) A symbolic link is NOT an alias!!!

Re: Library - Change a pass to files location

Paul
Thank you, Unknown writer, for a prompt respond.

Unfortunately it does not work, as Qmidi Pro finds the folder (in my case named MINUS) on HD2, but it doesn’t see exact files, which are located in different subfolders.

Would appreciate for any suggestions you might have.

Thanks again.

Paul
