Merge Edit and Sync windows?

musicadi
So, I thought I'd post this in a thread of its own :)

Is it possible to maybe merge these 2 windows? Or maybe just enhance the Edit window so you can somehow see the sync data for each lyric event

Ie. when you enter edit mode, the "time" for the event where the cursor is located would be shown above the event.

Or maybe there could be some sort of symbol which indicates where the next "time" info is located.

Let's say I have this in Sync mode:

001:01:000 These
001:02:000 are
001:03:000 ly
001:04:000 rics.

Then in Edit mode, this would appear as something like:

°These °are °ly°rics - this way, you can see where the timing changes, so if you make any changes within the text, you won't lose the sync data

Or, sort of like WYSIWYG HTML editors work, where you see both windows at the same time and you see in both of them the changes made.

Would be cool :)

Thank you!

Hello,

Actually, even if QMidi displays the "Adding/removing text may invalidate the synchronization data" alert, you can almost safely edit synchronized text without loosing your sync.

BTW, if you leave the cursor on a word in edit mode, after a while you should see the hidden sync value as shown on this picture:

Yes, I know what you mean, you only lose the sync data if you delete the whole content of the meta event.

But still, I think if you have a visual feedback about where this data is within the lyrics, it is easier to edit them without losing sync.

Maybe this could be an on/off option - to show or not to show the data in Edit mode. When it is set to on and you enter Edit mode, you could see a symbol which shows where the meta event starts, like for example the circle symbol I used above.

Alternatively, the Edit window could include the Sync window and when you move the cursor and modify data in any of the windows, the changes are reflected in the other one too.

I hope this is doable :)

Thank you!
