Multitrack Maker: earlier version?

Bugmelder
Hello,

my question is, is there an earlier version of the Multitrack Maker?

Ideally one which would work on OSX 10.11 or macOS 10.15.

Thank you!

I’m afraid that.. no. On 32bit systems you can use QuickTime 7 (pro).

Thanks for your response!

Well, as far as I know these are not 32bit systems...

Every OSX/macOS from 10.7 to 10.15 is a 64bit Intel system.

And I'm quite familiar with Quicktime 7 Pro (currently not on my machine) but I don't think the app is capable of making any multitracks... Are you sure Quicktime 7 Pro has this funktion on board?

MacOS versions up to mojave supports 32bit apps. QuickTime is a 32bit app. I've created MultiTrackMaker to enable 64bit systems to do the things previously done by QuickTime.

I have just tested Quicktime Pro 7.6.6 (on OSX 10.11)

It definitely can extract audio tracks from a mov file but there is no possibility to combine multiple tracks into one.

Yes you can:

You need the PRO version, of course

Re: Multitrack Maker: earlier version?

Thank you for the link!

Well, it just proves my point: Quicktime CANNOT MAKE a multitrack file itself.

When you have to use another software to MAKE a mutitrack file (as shown on that website), in that case Final Cut Pro you cannot assert Quicktime can do it.

Quicktime can only route these tracks to the corresponding channels of a given mutichannel audio card.

So at least my confusion has been eliminated.

I have managed to test your Multitrack Maker on another computer with macOS Ventura. That's what I was talking about: your software CAN combine multiple tracks and save it as a movie file. This is NOT what Quicktime can do.

Thanks for your quick responses. It was a little complicated to get to the meat of it but we got there eventually!

You can add audio (or video) tracks to a movie using the pasteboard, see:

Back in the glory days of QuickTime, I had written an AppleScript to automate this process:

The resulting movie:
