reading files from one Qmidi to another

norhoule
Hi I have a problem concerning reading files from one Qmidi to another

Qmidi. 2.7.2  on my laptop Mac Book Air.( 1.6GHZ intel Core i5. memory 8GB).  macOS Sierra.

Qmidi 2.7.2  on my I Mac 27’’.( 2,7 GHz Intel Core i5 12 Go 1333 MHz DDR3. memory 12GB)  macOS High Sierra

1- On my Imac I sync the lyrics RTF and chords and I copy the files to my lap top and everything is perfect.
2- But on my laptop, when  I sync the lyrics RTF and chords and copy the files to my Imac; the audio plays, the lyrics appear but are not synched and the chords are not there at all.

Hi, try compressing the two files before copying them.
Copy the zip file and unzip it and you'll see that it works

Because QMidi saves sync information in the text file resource fork, you can store them only on HFS/APFS (Mac) formatted volumes.

To preserve the resource fork, zip your file before transferring them via another file system, or by mail...

See QMidi Help (Help menu > QMidi Help) > Media > Management

I'm presuming that this also is OK in APFS file system (Apple's new one)?

Or do I need to Zip files moving them from an APFS disk to an HFS one?

Thanks the problem is solved.

Tests made from my iMac(high Sierra ''APFS'') to my Mac bookAir(Sierra''HFS'')
works without compression
it works.

The other way around from Mac bookAir(Sierra''HFS'') to my iMac(high Sierra ''APFS'')
Tests were made without compression by
via iCloud Drive.  doesn't work
via mail,             doesn't work
via network.        doesn't work

with compression  it works

To another user (a friend of mine) receiver high Sierra or Sierra it only works with compression.
Et voilà
Thank you very much it was a great help

Re: reading files from one Qmidi to another

However, don't you do an 'Export Current' on your MP3 and SMF's and embed the lyrics in the actual file?

Once you do that, you no longer need the .txt file at all (and can recover it by doing a 'Save as..' on the audio file in QMIDI if you need to further edit it).

You can then transfer the MP3's and SMF's willy-nilly from and to any file system you like any way you want...
