spinning beachball

I just started getting spinning colored ball when tryin. g to open file- I haven't encountered this before- when opening files I can see files- some are greyed out some are black- then the beachball spinning thing starts??

There is a file filtering process that can take longer than expected, hence the "spinning wheel". It is especially noticeable if the folder contains many files, perhaps on a slow disk. There is also a system bug that doesn't update the file status (gray/black). You can use drag & drop from Finder to avoid this.
